Between a rock to a hard place
Here’s a brief paragraph from the Albuquerque Journal this morning:
See what happened there? “Between 3,000 to 4,500.” This is the sort of mistake that is extremely common, and in fact most people wouldn’t even notice. But it’s very, very wrong. It should read “between 3,000 and 4,500.” Alternately, one could say “estimated to be from 3,000 to 4,500.” It’s those little details that make you sound like a hack. Or not, as the case may be.
